Tour of YSS Athletics

SME & NetworkingMFG are hosting a joint tour of YSS Athletics on February 16, 2012. YSS Athletics is a custom athletic apparel manufacturer in Snellville, GA that was started as a result of a high school varsity coach being frustrated with uniform vendors. She was challenged by her principal to make her own team's uniforms and as a result YSS Athletics was created. YSS Athletics has become innovative in the sports uniform industry and many of its uniforms are cutting-edge when it comes to custom design & custom fitting, especially for the female athlete. All of its uniforms are designed with the customer and the program in mind. Customers can come to the YSS facility and design their own uniforms which the company will subsequently produce.

More about YSS

YSS uses the latest technology for apparel manufacturing which is often only seen in off-shore plants. Uniforms are created in software which allows for uniformity regardless of the sport as well as being cut on a CAD cutting system. Every aspect of the uniform is created and completed in the Snellville, GA facility, beginning with design, cutting, sewing and decoration which can include embroidery or screen printing. The latest trend for the sports apparel industry is dye-sublimation which YSS also produces in-house. This is the most innovative in the industry and allows YSS to produce the lightest weight uniforms, allowing the athlete to perform at his or her peak.

Currently YSS is working to make its processes as efficient as possible by implementing a Lean/Six Sigma program on the production floor. Each department will be working to have a continual improvement process. The challenge is to remain competitive in all processes with other apparel manufacturers while offering a superior product.

YSS Athletics' main purpose is to listen to coaches "pain points" and work toward solving them by offering excellent customer service and superior products that are produced in an American manufacturing plant. YSS is committed to keeping its production of athletic apparel "Made in the USA".

The meeting is usually held the third Tuesday of the month, typically falling around the lunch hour or after work, depending on the plant’s schedule and traffic conditions.
